Common Types of Clerical Operations Questions

Clerical Operations is part of the coverage of the Subprofessional Level only of the Civil Service Exam. The two common types of questions are:

Spelling

For this type of question, you will be presented with several words and tasked to determine if there are any that are misspelled.

Example:
Which of the following words is not spelled correctly?
(1) indispensible
(2) disciplinary
(3) embarrassment
(4) all of the above
(5) none of the above

The correct answer is Option (1) indispensible. It should be spelled as indispensable.

Filing

For this type of question, you will be required to rearrange the given entries in alphabetical order.

Here is a filing rule to remember:
The names of individuals are filed as follows:

  • last name as the first unit
  • first name or initial as the second unit
  • middle name or initial as the third unit
  • title as the fourth unit
