Civil Service Exam Coverage: Professional Level
The test coverage depends on the level of exam that you plan to take.
For the Professional Level, there will be questions in English and Filipino on the following topics:
Numerical Ability
- basic operations
- word problems
Analytical Ability
- word association
- identifying assumptions and conclusions
- logic
- data interpretation
Verbal Ability
- grammar and correct usage
- vocabulary
- paragraph organization
- reading comprehension
Civil Service Exam Coverage: Subprofessional Level
For the Subprofessional Level, there will be questions in English and Filipino on the following topics:
Numerical Ability
- basic operations
- word problems
Clerical Ability
- filing
- spelling
Verbal Ability
- grammar and correct usage
- vocabulary
- paragraph organization
- reading comprehension
Examinee Descriptive Questionnaire (EDQ)
The EDQ refers to the first 20 items in the test, which usually involves questions regarding the examinee’s age, civil status, educational attainment, work experience, and other personal details. Thus, there is no need to prepare for this part.
General Information
For both levels, there will be General Information questions on the following topics:
- Philippine Constitution
- Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (R.A. 6713)
- Peace and Human Rights Issues and Concepts
- Environment Management and Protection
Number of Items & Time Allotted
For the Professional Level, the applicants are usually given 3 hours and 10 minutes to answer 170 items (150 items for the test proper and 20 items for the EDQ).
For the Subprofessional Level, the applicants are usually given 2 hours and 40 minutes to answer 165 items (145 items for the test proper and 20 items for the EDQ).
The passing rate for both levels is 80%.
